The Ilse Arlt Institute on Social Inclusion Research at St Pölten University of Applied Sciences focuses on and organises research and development activities connected with the courses offered by the Department of Social Sciences. It builds on St Pölten’s 30-year track record in research on social work.
The decision to name the institute after Ilse Arlt is intended to symbolise the connection to the long-standing Austrian tradition of research-led social work. Ilse Arlt embodied an understanding of social work that focuses on social structures in order to help marginalised groups and sees social work as a duty to society, while also recognising that particular methods need to be applied in individual cases.
